Any objections? …No? I didn’t think so. Definitely a significant figure. His playing days were long before my time, but it’s hard for me not to recognize his icon status. I remember hearing his broadcasting work as a child and knowing even then: “Man, this guy definitely doesn’t hide what he thinks about the team.”
Of course, it’s his off-ice story that will be the most telling. I’m most curious about the depiction of the failed “Bachelor’s III” experiment spearheaded by Turk and Broadway Joe Namath. It’s a downer to think about all of Turk’s struggles, but his perseverance and triumph over his addictions and poverty were his greatest succeses.
