Here’s a little something I didn’t mention in my last article. There is one mother-son combination on the Stanley Cup – Charlotte and John Grahame. Charlotte got her name inscribed on Lord Stanley in 2001 as part of the management brass of the Avalanche, whom included Ray Bourque, longtime Bruins captain. Curiously, the Bruins obtained Bourque’s draft rights by trading her husband Ron to Los Angeles in 1978.
John, another one-time Bruin (known in Boston somewhat unfairly as the drunk idiot that fell off the curb), won the Cup as Nikolai Khabibulin’s goaltending partner in 2004. Again, the leaf never falls far from the tree.
The more you know.
