The IIHF World Junior Championships in Ufa, Russia this year will one day be recognized as a place where history was made. Following a 5-1 slaughter of Canada, the boys in red, white, and blue conquered the greatest peak with a 3-1 win earlier today in the final round against Sweden, the defending champions, despite giving up an early goal. They were led by two goals in under 3 minutes by Florida Panthers prospect Rocco Grimaldi and the unrelenting work of Anaheim Ducks draft pick John Gibson, who shows occasional flashes of Jim Craig in his play and just might one day bring back the Olympic gold to the USA. This story just couldn’t be more perfect.
Don’t play the game just to let it go by. Play the game to make a difference. – Peter Laviolette
