Cool Fact of the Week 3/17/13 – 3/23/13

As of 2012, only two captains of Stanley Cup winning teams were born and trained in Europe. The first came in 2008, courtesy of Swede Nick Lidstrom leading the Red Wings over the Penguins in six games. The first European captain to lead a team to the Finals was Swedish Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson in 2007.
