Cool Fact of the Week 3/31/13 – 4/6/13


Easter weekend of 1987 held one of the absolute greatest playoff contests in sports history. The Islanders and Capitals participated in a quadruple OT, 128 minute long struggle for advancenent out of the first round. This beast of a game seven was eventually decided in the early morning hours of April 19th, with Pat LaFontaine putting a slap shot off the post and in past a screened Bob Mason to win the contest and the opening series for the Islanders, 3-2. That’s intestinal fortitude at its finest.
