Cool Fact of the Week 6/16/13 – 6/22/13





Certain to be first ballot Hall of Famer and sporting pride of the Czech Republic Jaromir Jagr has worn #68 throughout his entire 25-year career in elite hockey in honor of the Prague Spring rebellion that occurred in 1968 against the Soviet Union’s occupation of Czechoslovakia. This was also the year of the death of Jagr’s grandfather, who died in prison for refusing to do free labor on his farm as commanded by Soviet forces. Despite these events happening four years before Jagr’s birth, he feels strongly connected to it.
